There is a lot to say for a man that takes the bold step to leave the country of his birth to set up stakes in a far away land.

Over this past Mother's Day weekend, Burlington lost a great soul in a man that opened Laflair Salon in Burlington in 1963. In the almost 60 years since, Carmen Commisso Sr. and his wife Rosetta not only spawned their own sons and daughter into the business but the extended Commisso family has pioneered over 100 hairdressers that now own and operate many many salons across this great country of Canada.

Whether you are a client of Hair Xtacy at the Ironstone location or Downtown on New Street, you no doubt have seen and engaged with Carmen Sr. and probably Rosetta as well. Carmen's dedication to the hair industry, his sons and daughter, and their businesses would see him regularly open in the morning and close at night.

Mr. Commisso knew early on that he and his brother Tony were onto a good thing in opening Tony and Carmen in 1973 at Eastgate Square and then opening another salon location later in the 70's in Burlington. The rest is history as they say. Carmen Sr. enjoyed many years of experiencing his children's and family's extended achievements in the hair industry. He had every reason to be proud. What he thought would be good for his kids, continues to be just that.

Carmen Commisso Sr. will be sorely missed by his family, as will he be by the legions of Burlingtonians who grew to know him and love him.
